There really is a Chattanooga Choo Choo. It was nicknamed after the first train from Cincinatti to Chattanooga in 1880, connecting the north and the south by rail. There's a very nice park with some trains and a hotel commemorating it.
This handsome fellow is part of Chattanooga's Sir Goony Golf amusement center.
I had a Debra Jane Seltzer moment when I spotted this
wow-wee-wow-wow mid-century pharmacy.

Hit it, boys!
Some great stuff- love the frog!
ReplyDeletewow-wee-wow-wow is right! Here's a Chatanoonga Choo Choo funny story, when I first heard the song, instead of "shovel all the coal in" - I heard "Shuffleboard and bowling"! Knowing that train cars were long and narrow, like shuffleboard and bowling alleys, I thought perhaps people played these games on long train rides-! My fam will never let me live this down, it's been added to the family lexicon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rick! That frog was part of an elaborate jumping neon frog display that had competely gone to pot.
ReplyDeleteHaha Betty! That's up there with Creedence Clearwater's infamous there's a bathroom on the right/there's a bad moon on the rise!
I love the frog neon and the drive in architecture. I'm also really glad there is an actual Chatanooga Choo Choo! I think the mural of the Coca Cola is pretty funny, how someone was compelled to install two window RIGHT there...lol! Nie post :-)
