For sale: T. Rex, good condition, wooly mammoth, needs repair

Wall Street Journal photo

The Wall Street Journal (!) had a story about some eccentric roadside attractions up for sale due to retiring Mom and Pop owners and the changing habits of travelers. Check it out here.

  1. Wish we had the money and space to buy 'em, or maybe just run the place ourselves. I was definitely inspired by Carleen at the Shoe House to think about something like that!

  2. Not meaning to leave a public comment, but looks like an email I sent to you bounced, but can't seem to find another email address to send it to- if you want to , please send your email address to me- thanks! In other news, and since I'm still writing this, are you involved with Field Trials? We used to go to them with my dad when we were kids!

  3. It makes me sad to see great, weird roadside attractions dying over time. It's like when I went to see the Sinclair dinosaur in Independence, Missouri only to find out it had been stolen! The gas station had already closed down so now a cute, weird roadside attraction is no more. Sad.

  4. Kris, I know what you mean, although I get a kick out of seeing the old abandoned ones rotting along the roadside, too. Makes you want to take pictures of these things the minute you see them because they might not be there the next time you drive by (this happened to us with the 3-Fingered Eddies place blogged about previously)
